I hope you have enjoyed a peaceful, joyous and grace-filled Octave of Easter. Today is the end of the eight days of the Paschal celebration, though we now move into the Easter season (which makes 50 days of Easter celebration in total - but more on that another day!). Today is also the celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, instituted by Pope John Paul II. It is especially fitting, as Easter is ultimately about God's mercy to us, and the sacrifice He made so that we might receive it!
The movement of this Easter season is one of from receiving God's gifts to proclaiming them. Though not an end to our own blessedness, the example of Jesus is disciples clearly demonstrates that we are called to spread the good news. Though we don't have all the zeal of Saint Paul or the standing of Saint Peter, I suspect we each have a little in common with Saint Thomas: an experience of Christ's personal assurance to us, even end out.
Let us pray together, for each other and all Christians, that we may have the boldness to share what we have received.
