This last week we marked the anniversary of September 11th, 2001. Although it has already been 12 years, the events of that one day have left a profound mark on our society and the world. And yet despite the terrible actions of those responsible, many more people have responded - both on that day and since - with courage, compassion and love for neighbor.
It is fitting that the day following that anniversary is the feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary (Sept. 12th). How great a friend we have in the Mother of our Lord, and what a blessing to be invited to call upon her intercession through our prayers and the prayers of the Church!
May we continue to lay out our needs to the Blessed Virgin - for healing from the hurts of the past and for unity in the face of trials to come! Whether it be in praying the rosary (a plenary indulgence is offered when prayed with your family), the Memorare, the Magnificat or another devotion, prayers to Mary are always worth offering.
With the help of Mary and all the saints, let us continue to pray for each other and the world.
