This week I put this question to us all as we continue in our discernment of God’s invitation to stewardship. The reality of both of parishes is that the majority of our parishioners are yet being invited to greater participation in our parishes; roughly 65% of us have gifts that the parish has yet to know and celebrate!
There are four general ways that we may contribute to our parish:
? in daily or weekly prayer for the needs of the community
? In weekly or monthly financial contribution to the parish
? In regular volunteering for tasks or groups
? In taking on leadership roles
The truth is that any one of us can take on at least one of these ways of contributing. But the reality of our Christian faith is a call to more than the minimum or the lowest common denominator! When we have so many gifts in our parish, how can we do anything but use them for the benefit of our brothers and sisters.
This is my request of you this week: commit to two ways of contributing to the parish. Please take this week to pray about which God is calling you to offer. What needs, especially ones that are close to your heart, that attract you, could be filled by the unique talents & treasures which God has been entrusted to you?
Make no mistake—God truly is calling you to offer of yourself to this parish and its people! How will you respond to His invitation?
