Deacon James Fish is appointed Pastoral Coordinator of Holy Rosary and Visitation Parishes, to take effect July 1, 2018. At the same time, Rev. Martin J. Bourke is appointed Parish Priest to serve the sacramental needs of the two parishes.
October, 2018: A five-foot chunk of plaster falls from the wall into the choir loft. For safety reasons, the choir was moved to the south transept, and portions of the church are blocked off with barriers and tape.
November 16, 2018: Due to extensive water damage in the church, engineers and architects must conduct a series of tests to determine if the church building is safe, and what it will take to repair it.
Weekend Masses are celebrated in the School Auditorium at the regular Mass times, while daily Mass are celebrated in the Convent Meeting Center Chapel on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Friday School Mass is in the School Auditorium.
December 24, 2018: The Christmas night Mass is celebrated in the School Auditorium for the first time since 1920.
Lent, 2018: Stations of the Cross are held with soup suppers in the Convent Meeting Center on Fridays. Vespers are again held Sundays in the School auditorium. During three of the weekends in Lent, Holy Rosary's regularly scheduled Masses and Vespers are held at Visitation Church.
March 19, 2018: One year after their first holy hour, the Holy League men's group adopts its constitution and bylaws.
April 2019: A series of meetings is held between the Pastoral / Finance Councils and representatives of the Archdiocese to help determine the future of the parish.
June 23, 2019: Following the seventh annual Corpus Christi Mass and procession, we say goodbye to Sister Hanh, our Sacristan of nine years, who has been transferred to Everett. We also say goodbye to Father Bourke, who has been appointed Pastor of Visitation Church in Tacoma. He will serve one more weekend at Holy Rosary before taking up his new post.
August 24, 2019: A letter is read from Archbishop Sartain stating, in part, that Holy Rosary Church is ordered to be closed and razed. Many parishioners and others write to the Archbishop asking him to appeal his decision.
September 3, 2019: Archbishop Sartain's resignation is accepted by Pope Francis, and former coajutor Archbishop Paul Etienne succeeds him as Archbishop of Seattle.
October 9, 2019: Archbishop Etienne writes to the parish, saying that he has received the various petitions to the closure order, and that he will suspend the order while he prays and consults on the future of the parish church.
November 4, 2019: Citing reasons of health, Deacon Jim Fish resigns from the position of Pastoral Coordinator of Holy Rosary parish.
