PRAYER FOR CHURCH IN TRANSITION
O faithful God,
As your people, we cherish our memories and our history as a sacred gift. We also ask you to guide us in our time of transition.
We need your wisdom that we might be receptive to change, conversion and growth.
We need your grace to redirect our hearts that we may be willing to offer ourselves in joyful service.
Do not allow fear, ignorance or pride to limit the work of your spirit, nor custom to prevent the creativity within us from bearing fruit.
Open our hearts to the call of the Gospel. Give us courage and renewed hope that we may meet the challenge of being the church of our time.
Parish Transition Team Meeting 8-5-15:
When one pastor leaves and another comes to a parish, it is important that there is smooth transition. For this purpose a Transition Team has been formed by Father Maurer and Father Wichert with the assistance of the Office of Vicar for Clergy in the Chancery.
Members of the Transition Team, representing various councils, commissions and parish family and the Archdiocese include:
Deacon Erik Paige
In the first meeting we were able to introduce the team and establish our three main functions and goals as a group…The 3 functions of the Parish Transition Team include...
1: To thank and to honor and to celebrate the work that has been done by the outgoing pastor Fr Maurer. The gifts of his work and the many blessings he has given us during his time here with us. A farewell celebration is currently being planned. Stay tuned for more about that in our bulletin and much much more to come…
2: The second is to welcome and orient our incoming Pastor - Father Wichert.
3: The third is to help facilitate communication throughout both parish communities. Holy Rosary and Visitation. To make sure we keep you, the parishioners, actively engaged and informed of what is happening. Many of us on the team will be available after the Masses each week to ask questions of and bring forward issues and concerns back to the team.
One of the main issues and unfortunately unavoidable consequences of the priest shortage for all is the issue of Mass Times/Mass Schedules. It's impossible to maintain the same schedule of Mass celebrations the parishes have had in the past.
We developed a short survey developed by Father Maurer and Father Wichert and the transition teams to assist us in determining the most feasible Mass time and schedule for both parishes moving forward. We want to make clear that the survey will not be the only tool the team usesfor the determination of Mass schedules and in moving forward.
